16sproj.com is a project launched in April 2006 and implemented
by A Step Away , association for the promotion of culture and the production of contemporary art. It aims at fostering cultural exchange and promoting mutual understanding between the youth in general and teenagers in particular.
The main objectives are:

	Create a virtual space for classrooms of students aged 16 years old gathered from different countries of the world to connect and interact.
	Initiate a cultural dialogue among the youth.
	Engage teenagers in various artistic and technological media.
	Encourage their talents and their self-expression skills.
	Encourage exchange between schools in an innovative way.

Through this project, teenagers will create and post in their virtual personal space their individual artistic projects representing their way of expressing themselves and will engage in social cultural and artistic forums and chatting rooms with students from other schools of the world. At the end of the academic year 2006-2007 each  participating school submited a short movie on the importance of intercultural exchange within the Mediterranean reqion. A publication highlighting a collection of the work realized by students was published and distributed to all project participants as well as to educational and cultural institutions.. Through the  extension of this project for an additional year,  more high schools coming from different parts of the world will be able to join  this initiative and to  expand their visibility on the international level.
